APS — Overview
I received a week ago my APS Digital Certificate, for which I have been terribly waiting.
Throughout, I felt anxious, as I didn’t have a definite guideline to refer to.
Rather I heard a lot of misinformation and only a few true experiences of real people who got through the process.

I know that this is new for Students, if not many others, who are not quite familiar with the mandatory procedures to be eligible to study in Germany. So, let’s start with...
WHAT IS APS?
APS means Academic Evaluation Center in German.

WHY APS?
APS is needed if you are aspiring to study in Germany and If you are coming from countries like
India, Bhutan, Nepal, China, Shanghai, Mongolia, Vietnam and others.
APS System is relatively new to India, but it has been a mandate for countries like China, Mongolia, and Vietnam for more than 15 years. APS has been present in China since 2001 and in Vietnam since 2007. A similar system has been set up in India around 2022 to efficiently handle large volumes of applications by verifying their genuineness.
Before APS was introduced, the Visa Process for Germany included document verification, too. This slowed down the entire visa process and led to bulk built-up in applications. The German visa issuing took almost 6 months. Whereas for my cousin who applied for APS in 2023, it took her less than 3 weeks to receive her German Visa.
Important Note:
This is not equivalent to getting a German Visa. It is one of the criteria that has to be fulfilled to get a German Visa. The other criteria would be getting accepted by college/Uni and affording the expense.
